April Explodes is a 30x30x1.5 inches oil painting that depicts the exuberance and joy of bluebell season in a springtime wood. The viewer is being led along a path with dappled sunlight flickering across the path and trees and bluebells. At the end of the path, you can see the edge of the wood which is so bright you can see nothing beyond it. This is a fairy tale wood and anything could be there hiding in the trees or in the clearing beyond. My intention in painting this was to try, as I do every year in April, to capture the beautiful colours and scents of a woodland in spring. The use of ver
