About me

I am Algerian painter based in Paris, with a practice developed over more than twenty years. My work explores the tension between darkness and light, silence and human presence. Drawing from the traditions of chiaroscuro and from artists such as Caravaggio, Rembrandt and Georges de La Tour, I create enigmatic, hyperrealistic scenes in which figures, gestures and landscapes gradually emerge from deep shadow. Through painting, I seek to transform darkness into a space of contemplation, emotion and revelation, allowing light and color to appear not as simple illumination, but as carriers of meaning. My practice moves between intense realism and a poetic, sometimes mysterious atmosphere, with a particular attention to light, flesh, gesture and the emotional presence of the human figure.
