Working with the quiet, unstable medium of watercolour.
Chronic illness marked a turning point, compelling me to return to my practice with a sense of urgency. We exist in a constant state of tension between function and fracture. The functioning hums on. Yet when these mechanisms fail, we are confronted with unease, even horror. And yet this is where stories are born.
Working primarily with watercolour, I engage with a medium that mirrors this instability. Its fluidity resists full control, demanding both precision and surrender. Through the labour of repetition, layering, and correction, I negotiate the boundary between intention and accident. This process becomes a way of reflecting on bodily experience—on endurance, adaptation, and the quiet persistence of making within uncertainty. My work inhabits this space between fragility and resilience, where breakdown is not an end point but a site of transformation.
