Art is like an endless itch of the soul - impossible to satisfy. Every new, unexplored material is a challenge to embrace, gradually discovering mystical boundaries between canvas and the universe.
Artist Dārta Lote Bērziņa has been actively working in the field of art for three decades. She graduated from Limbaži School of Music and Art and the Jānis Rozentāls Art High School, and later earned both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in painting from the Art Academy of Latvia. She has participated in numerous projects and exhibitions in Latvia and abroad, including in Lithuania, Estonia, France, Belgium, Sweden, Slovakia, Germany, China, and elsewhere. Dārta has received several notable awards and art scholarships, and her works are held in private collections across multiple countries.
The artist perceives her creative process as a form of emotional purification - a meditative release of excess energy that leaves behind imprints of her emotions. She experiments extensively with color technologies and optical effects. Her works are saturated with emotion, sentiment, humor, fetishistic wit, and a generous dose of irony. Dārta feels closest to realism and symbolism, particularly in exploring the human figure and nature across different dimensions. Fearless in her approach, she often combines various media to create something new and unexpected.
For Dārta, art is like an endless itch of the soul - impossible to satisfy. Every new, unexplored material or surface is a challenge she willingly embraces, gradually discovering the mystical boundaries between the classical canvas and the universe.
