"There is no surer way of evading the world than by Art; and no better way of connecting with it than by Art." J.W. Goethe
My sculptural practice is a profound "dialogue with the earth," a journey that began with the instinctive pleasure of molding clay as a child and resurfaced with explosive force in adult life. To me, the act of sculpting is a process of giving the soul back to the earth. By infusing life into marmble and raw clay - materials I feel an ancestral connection to - I sublimate the self, returning the medium to its origins as "Mother Earth."
My research focuses on the human body as a "translator of the soul," exploring themes of fragility, transience, and the marks left by existence. I specialize in medium and large-scale bronze, wood, marble and stoneware fragments, which I view as "life maps" or parts of a lost totality. The stoneware sculptures are often subjected to smokefiring, a process that grants the surfaces an archaic, iridescent black finish, unique and unrepeatable.
My work is defined by a constant tension between the ethereal and the material. The creative process is an intense, often nocturnal struggle against the physical limits of clay and stone. This "challenge with the material" has led me toward increasingly complex technical feats. Influenced by the emotional pathos of masters like Rodin and Claudel, I seek to capture the balance between movement and stillness.
Ultimately, my sculptures serve as a reflection on the fleeting nature of time. Whether through intimate fragments or large-scale public installations, my art acts as a bridge -allowing me to both escape the world and remain deeply, physically connected to its essence.
