About me

Evan Mendel (b.1988) is an artist based in Philadelphia. His layered multidisciplinary projects have focused on themes of economic and faith based endurance performance and associated imagery/visions.

He spent 10 years collecting discarded playing cards with his siblings until a full deck was assembled (Craven); toured a traveling cinema projecting 16mm from the headlights of a Dodge Caravan (Double Feature); performed as an immigration officer demanding proof that you exist (proof of contact); and sold his used disposable work gloves by the yard as a street vendor [proof of work]. His latest print project (presented here) manipulates images from his phone using gps algorithms and generic photo editing tools (ounces per hour).
