About me

I'm Ashuza Casinga, Josby. A multidisciplinary and Award-winning artist born in Democratic Republic of Congo, but now based in Nakivale Refugee Settlement, Uganda due to low security, and danger.
I work in Acrylic paints on canvas, mixed media, watercolor. And drawing in different mediums like pencil, charcoal, color pencils, and pen.
In my paintings, I don't just paint the life i hear out from the world, but i paint the life I've lived and experienced, and hoping to put the world on a more than just a sustainable world. Through my art works, I show a point of intersection of mind when we discover who we were and who we have to be in promoting the world.
I paint in the themes; nature and environmentalism, love and humanity, hope and leadership.

Through my achievements, I am a trophy winner, and a national first prize winner in a 2022 national competition organized by FACESUP Uganda, and awarded by Robinah Nabanja, the Prime Minister of Uganda by then.
I am the first winner of the 2026 Ubuntu competition on the Mother Spirit Project, Awarded by Antoinette Rootsdawtah and Pato Banton.

Rooted in my practical experience of living such a displacement, I aim to stand as a witness and storyteller for refugee resilience, committed to transforming personal experience into collective hope to prosper. I've experienced how union of different tribes and Nationality can lead to prosperity, and everyone around the world can do it. This is the time. You and I can change the world to more than just sustainable.
