Passionate about connecting the dots between scientific concepts and artistic expression, I am a scientific illustrator with a flair for blending ideas from diverse disciplines.
Observational drawing and anatomical illustration are the tools that I use to further my understanding of the world and its interactions. I draw what captures my sustained attention, that being human anatomy, environment, texture and symbolism. This makes my drawings more than a method of representation, but a showcase of my love to learn, study, transform, and express.
Developing proportion, gesture, and structure, I have built confidence in efficient mark-making, capturing more than surface details alone. I am continuously exercising my observational drawing skills, refining and strengthening my ability to assess spatial relationships and structure . Staples of my artistic toolkit are graphite and ink, but I also integrate digital tools to refine tonal structure, anatomical clarity, and to adapt my work for different audiences. I want to produce works that are technically rigorous yet adaptable for educational and professional contexts.
Pieces like the illuminated ink and LED works referencing neuroanatomical structures reflect my interest in system integration. While based in the traditions of scientific illustration, I reinterpret theories that bridge anatomy and theology by pairing line with light. I am particularly drawn to the history of science and how it was influenced by artists, writers, philosophers, and theologians; a perspective that makes science very human. I push this further with the suspended human sculptural form, making these ‘bridging theories’ into tangible two-dimensionality.
I am conceptually motivated by the relationship between accuracy and interpretation, an essential concept of design. I love how composition, color, and lighting play together, and how material choice shapes how information is perceived. I look at art as a form of communication, whether traditional or digital, asking how it effects education and engagement as well as inspiration.
