Diving in the secrets of subconcious mind.
Maja Zaleska (b. 1991 in Gdańsk) – a multidisciplinary visual artist and graduate of the Faculty of Painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk (diploma in 2014). She is currently studying Process Psychology at SFPP, expanding her research into the relationship between the creator and their inspiration, as well as the creative process as a space for transformation.
In her artistic practice, she addresses the complexities of interpersonal relationships and the human connection with nature, incorporating insights from psychology, including Carl Gustav Jung’s theory of the collective unconscious and archetypes.
Her works also reflect on transience—both individual and collective—and the crisis of the anthropocentric worldview. While she tackles deeply existential themes, she simultaneously introduces irony and speculative visions of the future.
Zaleska moves fluidly across various media: from classical oil painting, photography, and collage, to assemblage, spatial installations, and sculpture. In parallel, she works in the film industry as a set designer and prop master for feature films, series, and commercials, with a particular fondness for independent and documentary cinema.
She runs Trash Mojito, an artistic and educational initiative through which she conducts workshops for children and youth, blending ecological action with creativity development.
In both art and life, she seeks authentic relationships—those that lead to self-discovery.
