Welcome to the house of Daydreamers! An eclectic, maximalist space, where chaos and creativity make the rules, where inspiration pours from each and every corner, where imagination meets reality.
I’m Marta Giacobbe, an Italian Illustrator and 3D Artist, currently based in UK.
My work explores the space between illusion, emotion, and nature.
I’ve always been fascinated by the idea of contraposition and contrast, the idea of images that make you look twice, and wants you to keep staring at them to see what else will surface.
My references are broad from the pre-Raphaelite's, to the abstract art of the early 900, from the optical art to surrealism, expressionism and symbolism, early photography and experimental techniques such as double exposure, as well as anime art and recent animation films. I am inspired by artists like Escher, Man Ray, Francesca Woodman, Corita Kent, Shiele, Luigi Ghirri, Crepax, Milo Manara and I could keep going forever, I am always on the hunt for new sources of inspiration!
In my work, I use shapes, lines, and colors to create pieces that feel calm at first glance, then open up into something a little unexpected.
Nature, both the wild outside, the complexity of human nature, and urban surroundings feed my imagination.
I try to interpretate those influences into visuals that invite curiosity, reflection, and maybe a small sense of wonder.
With an eclectic background, I studied Fashion and Visual Design in Italy and Visual Effects in UK, worked in production with fashion designers and VR studios, and finally became a professional 3D artist, working on characters, creatures and organic shapes for film, animation and games, I always created my own art in the meantime, drawings, illustrations and prints, constantly searching for my own signature style.
I finally found my place in a whimsical maximalist world, where colors and shapes blend in the horizon capturing the daydreamers attention for a new journey into the next magical emotion! Every day details become powerful sources of creation, where the eye and the seeker meet to brew new worlds and spread a message of freedom and authenticity.
