I’m full of joy and melancholy. Playful and enthusiastic. Yet chaotic. I have lots of dreams and that is what drives me. Art is my identity, and it’s my favorite thing.
Mia Breton (b. 2004, Sacramento, CA) is a student artist with media skills in oils, ceramics, ink illustrations etc. Mia began her artistic journey at a young age, her practice focused on watercolors and cartoons in high school and then she attended Sacramento State to earn her Bachelor in Fine Arts in Studio Art with an emphasis in Painting. Her work focuses on identity, memories, childhood nostalgia, girlhoods and hyper fixations. Her style has developed from oil impressionist to imaginative realism with unconventional dream-like spaces. She is interested in blending real life figures with crayon scribbles and stars. Playing with the clashing of reality and imagination, and challenging the rules of art by skipping between the lines of what is finished and unfinished. Mia has painted a variety of subjects, from skeletons to octopuses. Her recent work delves into childhood portraiture, focusing on portrayals of young girls aged 2-10 growing up in early 2000s America. Mia has chosen this subject as a way to preserve and remember moments of comfort and joy that only us as children can fully enjoy. Mia invites her audience to see themselves in her work.
