About me

Soraia Barroca, whose artistic pseudonym is “Nunca paras quieta” (“You never stand still”), is a Portuguese visual artist, born on June 24, 1991, in Castelo Branco. Her practice encompasses ceramics, painting, and authorial works, with particular attention to texture, relief, and color, developing a minimalist and contemporary aesthetic that extends across different supports and materials.

Soraia’s work integrates influences from tribal and rural cultures, absorbed during her travels, translating these experiences into projects that create a dialogue between tradition and contemporaneity, local and global.

A member of CAI.pt, the artist also promotes cultural activation in inland and rural areas, bringing art closer to communities and strengthening local identities within her country.

Soraia Barroca’s body of work is characterized by the integration of technique, sensitivity, and conceptual depth, offering a consistent, solid, and innovative visual and sensory experience, with a recognizable personal signature in each piece.
