“The saddest aspect of life right now is that science gathers knowledge faster than society gathers wisdom.”
Isaac Asimov
Peter typically works with discarded electronics.
His work is a response to a society dominated by electronic systems. By exposing the innards of these systems, he encourages an awareness of their ubiquity and our rapidly growing dependence on them.
His circuit board sculptures literally mark the transition from the industrial to the digital age.
These circuit board sculptures are illuminated, often geometric objects made of circuit boards combined with other recycled materials such as steel and aluminum. He casts these combinations with aluminum independently in his studio.
Peter regularly exhibits nationally and internationally, and his work is now included in private collections in the Netherlands, Germany, Denmark, Spain, and Sweden.
Peter lives and works in Leermens, a small village near the power plants of Eemshaven, a region in the north of the Netherlands.
Peter's artistic roots lie in the underground subculture of the early 1990s, where he
developed his strong do-it-yourself mentality. Instead of attending the local art academy, he chose his own path of trial and error. This resulted in a wide range of experiments. Together with several local art students, they began creating their own exhibitions in vacant buildings and experimenting with performance and film.
Since the 2000s, he has increasingly focused on his own artistic qualities, including sculpture and installation.
