About me
Rita Pranča is a Latvian contemporary artist working across sculpture, ceramics, painting, drawing, and olfactory art. Her interdisciplinary practice explores the relationships between memory, nature, the body, and the invisible connections between people and their environment through material, scent, and form.
She is the founder and leader of the women artists' collective ArtPart, initiating collaborative exhibitions and projects that highlight contemporary perspectives on gender, identity, and social issues. Rita also serves on the Board of the Latvian Ceramic Association and is a member of the Latvian Artists' Union, actively contributing to the development of Latvia's contemporary art scene.
Rita holds a Master's degree in Sculpture from the Art Academy of Latvia, where she previously also studied painting and drawing. She regularly participates in international exhibitions, symposia, artist residencies, and interdisciplinary projects throughout Europe, continually expanding her artistic language through experimentation with ceramics, sculpture, scent, sound, and installation.
Her artistic practice frequently addresses themes of ecology, memory, cultural identity, and the fragile balance between humans and nature. Rather than illustrating these ideas directly, her works invite viewers into sensory and emotional experiences where material, texture, and atmosphere become carriers of meaning.
Alongside her artistic practice, Rita develops educational and community initiatives through workshops, exhibitions, and collaborative projects, fostering dialogue between contemporary art, traditional craftsmanship, and environmental awareness.
