Specializing in abstract & anthropomorphic forms.
The Latvian sculptor Roberts Bāliņš often draws inspiration from the atmosphere of the Baltic region, especially the windswept coastline of the Baltic Sea. Growing up and working in Riga, he is influenced by the open seascapes and strong coastal winds, which appear in his sculptures through flowing, tubular forms that suggest movement and natural forces.
In many of his works, the bending pipe-like structures evoke the feeling of wind shaping objects by the sea, linking the sculpture’s form to the dynamic environment of the Baltic seaside.
