LANDSCAPE ILLUMINATED
Sabine Liva paints her world in sure strokes of poetry. Steps from her studio, the waterfront goes about a busy life of boats and birds and spectacular skies. Sabine's subtly
confident brush hovers and dips, capturing for us the drifting sheen of morning mists, the lonely
echoes of shoreline gulls, the glimmer of pebbles washed perfectly smooth.
These grand portraits of water and sky whisper primal secrets from the walls. The colours are warmly
organic; mute masses of cloud and stone, lilting tints of wind and starlight. Silhouettes of boats and
doves - the shadowed shapes of simple things - appear, hover and fade away with the whims and
dreams of tides. Early fog, lace veils, spray and stone, wood and wave are here in balanced
measures, simply placed.
These are joyful paintings, an art of love for the landscape that inspired them.
