I create worlds across different media that highlight more-than-human agency, where humans are part of the web of life, not above it.
My practice explores the intersections of culture and nature, focusing on the relationships between humans and the more-than-human, meaning the organisms, elements and systems that sustain us and all life on Earth. Combining scientific research, posthumanist theory and fiction, I create worlds that highlight entanglements in ecosystems and multispecies intelligence. My work spans moving image, sound, sculpture and drawing, often rooted in my rural upbringing in Latvia and shaped by intergenerational knowledge passed down from my grandparents. A deep childhood curiosity for living beings continues to inform my creative thinking, alongside an urge to challenge oppressive systems, colonisation and extractivism. I blur binaries such as human versus environment, natural versus artificial, and self versus world, inviting viewers into more fluid and interconnected ways of seeing and being.
