Contemporary artist painting intuitive dreamlike paintings.
I paint imagined landscapes that are presences rather than specific places. They grow out of memory, emotion and lived experience. I work intuitively, building up layers of paint through gesture and allowing forms to appear gradually. My background in printmaking feeds into the fine lines and patterns that move through the surface.
Influenced by Turner’s light and atmosphere, Korean Joseon landscape painting, and artists who explored inner worlds, I am interested in how landscape can reflect our psychological and ecological realities. Subtle references to the natural world run through the work, suggesting both fragility and strength.
I am interested in this in-between state, where memory, imagination, and landscape fuse together. My paintings occupy an inner threshold, inviting viewers to find their own way of seeing, providing a catalyst for memory and imagination.
