I approach art history through plural, feminist and decolonial lenses. My curatorial work engages political identities and embodied knowledge to create spaces of representation, connection, and care.
I’m an independent art historian, curator, and writer based in Amsterdam. My work critically examines the intersections between feminisms and curatorial practices through theoretical frameworks, with a particular focus on challenging traditional art historical narratives and amplifying overlooked perspectives.
My curatorial practice moves beyond performative trends to create spaces for critique, connection, and care. Recurring themes in my work include inclusivity, memory, vulnerability, and embodiment, often explored through writing that foregrounds underrepresented perspectives and encourages dialogue and empowerment.
I approach art exhibitions as a form of inclusive storytelling and social engagement where theory, practice, and community come together. I bring curiosity, creativity, empathy, and a collaborative spirit to every project, along with strong organisational skills and a detail-oriented mindset.
I’m always open to new collaborations, curatorial projects, and critical exchanges that align with my vision. Please explore my practice at valeriamari.com and get in touch with me to shape more inclusive, reflective, and transformative cultural spaces!
