About me

Vera Bondare is a contemporary painter with more than twenty years of experience in drawing and oil painting. She graduated from the Latvian Academy of Arts with a Master’s degree in Painting, developing a strong academic foundation in composition, color theory, and classical visual structure.

Inspired by Impressionism, Realism, and Expressionism, her paintings explore how composition, light, and color transform ordinary spaces into emotionally rich visual experiences. Vera is especially drawn to quiet city streets, parks, interiors, residential neighborhoods, forests, and landscapes of Latvia, revealing the hidden poetry within everyday life.

Color in her work functions as both an emotional and structural force. Contrasts between warm and cool tones create movement, depth, and atmosphere, while light reshapes forms and space, adding intimacy and tension. Her textured surfaces and expressive brushwork combine classical discipline with contemporary sensitivity.

Rather than simply depicting reality, Vera creates paintings that encourage viewers to slow down, observe more deeply, and reconnect emotionally with the world around them. Alongside her studio practice, she is also interested in artistic education and the study of composition as a universal visual language influencing painting, photography, cinema, design, and modern visual culture.
