South Downs Winter is a large panoramic oil painting of deer and silver birch trees in snow with the South Downs Hills in the background. It is 60x36x1.5inches. The painting was inspired by a particular spot on the hills in East Sussex near Amberley. There is a stag to the left and three female deer to the right. I often feature this group of deer as I often seem to see three females and a buck together when out walking and they have come to be almost like mascots for me. It may not be the same 4 deer but I like to pretend it is. The style of the painting is semi-abstract.
