Cuckmere Haven with Owl is a painting of the Cuckmere Haven river estuary near Seaford during the summer of 2022. It is 30x36x1.5 inches. This painting was inspired by a walk I took in August from Alfriston down to the sea along the river Cuckmere. The sky really was this blue and the golden yellows and browns of the hills and fields and the red barn really were these colours. Apparently, a short-eared owl is sometimes seen in the marshes here and so she makes a good addition to the scene. This is a spot that many artists paint so instead of trying to compete I took the thing I remembered most
