The lioness

Year 2022
Size 22.4 × 15.7 in

This artwork draws inspiration from feminist struggles symbolized by the animal world. The lioness is now reduced to a skull, representing all that the female gender has endured until today and still experiences: deprived of freedom, rights, their bodies, and social roles. However, the teeth are still sharp, the skull perfectly intact, and from it, flowers persist, resisting and growing. It symbolizes resistance towards freedom and equal rights. The artwork is created using watercolor, ink, pencils, and gouache on 100% cotton paper weighing 640 grams.
