“In my work surfaces form a cohabitation of recognisable objects and abstract plains, and, through the painting process, imagery is revealed and disguised. I am interested in addressing the ambiguity of visual information and abstraction, sometimes employing visual signifiers that are suited for the purpose; for instance a trope or recurring motif, such as a wall or a fence. These figurative references create metaphor and act as a device for abstraction”.
