For her print, Kate Groobey was inspired by the Tuscan surroundings, the image of the Italian farmer in front of wavering Cyprus trees has a depth that is quite unique to a print thanks to the many layers used to build up this expressive image. The forms in La Lutte suggest movement and an exaggerated flexibility, dancing or exercising, set against the backdrop of Cyprus trees, this limited edition print was meticulously printed at Il Bisonte to reproduce the colours desired. Five copper plates were used instead of the usual one due to the complex use of tone and many colours.
