Ioana Cristodorescu (b. 1999, Galati) is currently pursuing a Master's program at the National University of Arts in Bucharest, under the guidance of Professor Petru Lucaci. During her undergraduate studies, she was awarded a scholarship to study at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera in Milan (2019-2020), where she discovered techniques such as paper technology, mosaics, and murals. In 2021, she went to Berlin to participate in an internship program at the Plan B Gallery (Berlin, Germany), founded by Adrian Ghenie and Mihai Pop. Stylistically circumscribed to German expressionism, through the force of the line, large cuts, broken lines, and angular figures, Ioana Cristodorescu's works express the reality observed from the surface: people posing and being posed. The vitality and alert, expressionist spirit, in a constant search, dialogues with the fast and confident gesture present in most of her works. A strong drawing, with broken planes and firm lines, builds her composition. The artist creates this subtle, balanced interplay between drawing and color, in harmony with the chromatics.
