Born on 1970, in Latvia. Mairita Folkmane has graduated from the Department of Applied Decorative Art at the Art Academy of Latvia (1997) and from professor Pēteris Martinsons’ studio (1999).She has been engaged in the fields of ceramics and environmental art, and has organised workshops on art. M. Folkmane has been participating in exhibitions since 1989. She has taken part in more than 200 group exhibitions, plein airs, art events in Latvia and abroad. M. Folkmane has created side altars in a mosaic technique for St. Mary Goretti’s Catholic Church in Salacgrīva (1997, 1998), and environmental objects in the Pedvāle Open Air Museum (2000–2007), Rainis House in Berķenele (1998–2022), fire sculptures in Daugavpils (2001), Alingsas (Sweden, 2007), and Vilnius (Lithuania, 2008) as well as snow sculptures in Līvāni (2016, 2017). “The language of art is a way I can express my thoughts and feelings without words.” (Mairita Folkmane)
