mercedes fernandez is an image-maker based in brooklyn, ny. they are currently in candidacy for recieving their MFA from Parsons School of Design. mercedes primarily works with the body in relation to the environment they are placed in. she observes the absurdity of everyday life and the performance of being. through digital manipulation and humor, their work questions how bodies interact with their surroundings and objects. the bodies in turn become objects themselves. mercedes has been shown in the 9th World Biennial of Student Photography in Novi Sad, Serbia, 2023. they have been featured in Blackrock's Center for the Arts in Maryland and awarded the student award for their images in the show. she has been shown in multiple group exhibitions in New York, Washington D.C., Colorado and Zurich, Switzerland.
