Oana Maria Pop

Oana Maria Pop is a Romanian mixed-media artist who uses silicone, colour and photography to shape the contours of the human body, highlighting the impact gender roles have on it. Her research and work explore abusive behaviour in contemporary society and the treatment of underprivileged citizens, especially women and young girls. Through her practice, she aims to expose the disparaging language in which women’s issues get reviewed and to alter the idea that women’s bodies should look and perform as dictated by patriarchal principles. Currently, she is living in Berlin (Germany).
