Obie Platon

Born in lasi (Romania) in 1987, Obie Platon has exhibited consistently for the past twelve years both nationally and internationally. Complex and contradictory, the artist’s paintings seek to expose the deconstruction of familiar surroundings and ubiquitous characters by inserting symbols of popular imagery. Platon is best known for his large-scale, surreal and subversive paintings featuring a broad range of cultural, literary, and philosophical allusions. His background studies in architecture play a significant role in his work. The paintings reflect his passion for architectural structures, and the superimposition of numerous layers. Using predominantly oils on canvas, Platon's extensive travelling and working in Europe and Asia have inspired and helped the artist to develop his practice.
