Septimiu Căpățână is a Romanian artist, a graduate of the Bucharest Academy of Arts, the College of Decorative Arts and Design, Mural Art Section (1992) – Dean Ion Bitzan, member of the Romanian Union of Visual Artists (1997). His paintings are recognized for their gestualism, vibrant chromatics and definitive brushstrokes, which profoundly distinguish his artwork. Septimiu is adept of lyrical expressionism, his work influenced by the likes of Willem De Kooning, Wassily Kandinsky, Zao Wou Ki The majority of Septimiu’s works have large dimensions and his most employed technique is acrylics on canvas. The themes he approaches are diverse, ranging from portraits and nude paintings to more complex works such as a series of paintings that encode the same message.
