Giovanni Lora’s “Figure da lastra” are like creatures liberated from iron. The two figures come out light, freeing themselves from the hard, heavy steel. They sustain each other just with a hand and maybe they dance together in the thrill of freedom. The movement fluctuates lucent in the metal, outlining thousands of possible expansions and variations. Counterimages of shadows – the emptiness of the cut resonates the silhouette. One beam of light is enough to let the figures reappear, like illusory bright fires.
