A sepia toned watercolour of a young ballerina trying the ribbons of her ballet shoes in the wings before her performance. I wanted to capture the warm shadowy tones of the world in the wings of the theatre as the lights seep off the stage. This is the quiet moment of sanctuary before the performance. I used a range of sepia and umber tones on watercolour paper. I adore capturing ballet and theatre life in my paintings. It is a passion. I also love the hidden world behind the spotlight and the life of the performer before they go on stage.
