This painting belongs to my ongoing València series, created in response to my home town of València, in Eastern Spain. For this painting I mixed acrylic impasto medium and marble dust with the paint to create a variety of interesting painterly effects. The València series belongs to an ongoing strand within my practice in which I respond to the natural and manmade environment. The point is not to reproduce what I see, but to reinvent and reimagine it in a very playful way, trying to capture something about the atmosphere, the energy and the visual feel of the location.
