Katrina Avotina | Beyond Maps, Into Emotions

About

The term "psychogeography," coined by Guy Debord in the 1960s within the context of the Situationist Movement, explores the relationship between environmental spaces and human experiences. This concept seeks to understand the psychological impact of urban spaces by reimagining urban landscapes to become visual representations of emotions and mental states, using symbolic elements. Katrina Avotina goes beyond the traditional city maps and uses psychogeography to explore the hidden dimensions within cities. She turns cities into living, breathing entities shaped not just by their physical structures but also by the emotional imprints of those who wander through them.
