The third image within the triptych, the right side, is based on Sandro Botticelli’s painting, Pallas and the Centaur (Circa 1480-1485) Firenze, Galleria degli Uffizi. The central figure of the photograph is a version of the Roman goddess Minerva or Camilla, the goddesses of war and chastity. Not only for my namesake was I drawn to this painting but also for the “values”, with which I disagree and choose to reject, that it espouses. The idea of glorifying chastity in women and defeating “the feral instincts of humanity” seems like a justification for the archaic absurdity that, unfortunately,
